In the classroom, I prepare students to understand histories, forms, and theories of moving images and how they relate to the social world. We consider how societal conceptions of race, class, gender, sexuality, as well as nation and region have shaped and been shaped by film in its myriad forms. My goal is to teach my students to analyze critically the role that screen media play in modern Western and US society.
