I'm a lecturer of Film and Media Studies in the Department of English at Georgia College. I helped to design and now serve as the lead instructor of the the department's new Film, Media, and Culture concentration. I also regularly teach core critical thinking and writing courses with a film, TV, and media focus.
My academic identity is interwoven with my experience as trans, queer, and southern. Coming out has been a long-term process of deconstructing representations of difference in southern cultures and notions of place that delimit non-normative gender and sexuality alongside racial and class difference.
I am invested in research, teaching, mentorship, and community involvement that privileges the cultural visibility of people marginalized at intersections of identity and place-based bias.
